Public Service News from Local 17

December 10, 2011:  Another Teamster back to work!   Bonnie Leslie was terminated and the CSA Hearings Officer reversed the termination and gave her a 5 day suspension. The result is $45,000 in back pay and benefits.  Great Job Michael Omalley, Russell Harris and Paul Ashley.  You can read the decision HERE.

September 30, 2011:  Teamsters Local 17 makes it's mark on the I.B.T. monthly magazine.  Read about our Local's success in supporting labor friendly candidates in the city of Denver through DRIVE.  This article has a special page on our website and can be found HERE.

July 15, 2011:  Ed Bagwell puts DHS on notice about a production standard.  In his letter to Patricia Wilson Pheanious, Valerie Brooks and June Wilson, Ed makes it perfectly clear that Local 17 will never allow our members to be treated this way.  Read Ed's letter HERE.

June 7, 2011:  City auditor Dennis Gallagher alerted city officials to what he believes is a “seriously flawed” human resources department that is unaccountable to not only the citizens of Denver but also the officials who govern the city.  This has touched off a war between CSA and the Auditor's Department within the City.

Teamsters officials say they are gearing up for a membership drive to add more Denver city workers to their rolls with hopes of asking voters to approve the right to collectively bargain.

"It's time," said Ed Bagwell, public-service director for Teamsters Local No. 17, which represents more than 1,000 city employees and wants to increase enrollment to 2,500.
